Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas on Saturday represented the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the 10th Remembrance Anniversary of the late His Royal Majesty, Major Lucky Meshack Erebulu (Aduo II), held in Patani and organised by the Kabowei Kingdom.
The anniversary provided an opportunity for traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, family members and other dignitaries to honour the memory of the late monarch and reflect on his contributions to the development of the Kabowei Kingdom.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, Senator Onowakpo described HRM Aduo II as a revered monarch, disciplined military officer and custodian of peace, culture and tradition, whose reign was characterised by unity, wisdom and purposeful leadership.
He noted that a decade after the monarch’s transition, his legacy remained relevant, particularly his commitment to peace, unity and the advancement of his people.
According to him, the late monarch lived a life defined by courageous leadership and selfless service, qualities that earned him the respect and affection of his people during his lifetime.
Onowakpo, who conveyed Governor Oborevwori’s goodwill to the Kabowei Kingdom, said the commemoration was not only a remembrance of the departed royal father but also an opportunity to celebrate the values he embodied and the enduring impact of his reign.
He prayed for the continued repose of the soul of HRM Aduo II, while urging the people of Kabowei Kingdom to preserve and build upon the legacy of peace, unity and development associated with his reign.
The late Major Lucky Meshack Erebulu, who reigned as Aduo II, is remembered as a distinguished traditional ruler whose leadership contributed significantly to the unity and development of the Kabowei Kingdom.
