The Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has congratulated the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, on the occasion of his fifth coronation anniversary.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the milestone, Senator Joel-Onowakpo, on behalf of his family, constituents and the people of Delta South, described the monarch’s five-year reign as a period of renaissance, purposeful leadership and renewed pride for the Itsekiri people.
The Senator said the ascension of Ogiame Atuwatse III to the ancient throne of Iwere five years ago heralded a new era of enlightenment, peace and progressive leadership in the Warri Kingdom.
According to him, the Olu has redefined modern royalty through his wisdom, courage and grace, while successfully blending the richness of tradition with contemporary ideas and youthful dynamism.
He particularly commended the monarch’s interventions in youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, education, cultural reawakening and the campaign against social vices, describing the initiatives as evidence of a transformative leadership committed to the future of the kingdom.
“Under your distinguished reign, the Warri Kingdom has witnessed a remarkable renaissance, characterised by a renewed sense of pride, unity, identity and dignity among the Itsekiri people,” the Senator said.
Joel-Onowakpo also lauded the Olu’s commitment to peace, development and statesmanship, noting that his leadership and devotion to God had continued to inspire people within and beyond the Warri Kingdom.
He prayed that Almighty God would continue to grant the monarch divine health, wisdom, strength and grace to lead the Iwere Kingdom to greater heights of peace, prosperity, glory and honour.
“May your reign be long. May your reign be peaceful. May your reign continue to be prosperous,” he prayed.
The Senator further wished His Majesty many more years of impactful service to the Itsekiri people, Delta State and Nigeria.
He concluded with the traditional royal salutation: “Long live His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR. Long live the Olu of Warri. Long live the great Iwere Kingdom. Suooooooo!”
