Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, has paid glowing tribute to former Delta State Governor, James Onanefe Ibori, on the occasion of his 68th birthday, describing him as a “master builder,” an exceptional statesman, and the architect of contemporary Delta State.
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, the senator congratulated Ibori on behalf of his family and the people of Delta South Senatorial District, joining family members, political associates, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating the former governor’s enduring legacy and contributions to the state and the nation.
Joel-Onowakpo lauded Ibori’s leadership during his tenure as governor from 1999 to 2007, saying his administration laid the solid foundation upon which Delta State continues to grow and prosper.
According to the senator, Ibori remains the undisputed political colossus of Delta State, whose visionary leadership and uncommon ability to mentor future leaders have produced generations of public servants contributing meaningfully to national development.
Describing the former governor as the “Odidigboigbo of Africa,” Joel-Onowakpo said Ibori’s influence extends far beyond Delta State, portraying him as a unifying figure, a reservoir of wisdom, and a master strategist whose commitment to the welfare and advancement of his people remains enduring and inspiring.
The lawmaker also offered prayers for the former governor, asking God to bless him with sound health, renewed strength, and greater wisdom in the years ahead.
“May your legacy continue to illuminate our political landscape, and may your new age be filled with peace, joy, and fulfilment,” the senator said while wishing the former governor a happy 68th birthday.
