Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure a historic victory in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, declaring that the party is targeting a landslide margin of no fewer than 500,000 votes for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council in Abuja, Senator Joel-Onowakpo said the party’s nationwide support base, strong grassroots structure, and Governor Oyebanji’s performance in office have positioned the APC for an overwhelming victory at the polls.
The senator noted that the campaign council, which brings together top party leaders, governors, lawmakers and stakeholders from across the country, reflects the APC’s determination to consolidate its hold on Ekiti State.
According to him, the party’s strategy is anchored on effective grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement and showcasing the achievements of the Oyebanji administration, which he said has earned broad acceptance among the people of the state.
Joel-Onowakpo stressed that the APC remains united and fully prepared for the election, expressing optimism that the governor’s record in infrastructure development, social intervention programmes, education and healthcare would translate into an emphatic endorsement by voters.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Governor Uba Sani and several APC governors, National Assembly members and party leaders from across the country.
The APC says the campaign council is now fully activated to deliver victory for Governor Oyebanji and further strengthen the party’s position ahead of future elections.
