The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its National Campaign Council and sub-committees for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, appointing Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the council.
According to a notice signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the campaign council brings together top party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, lawmakers, and other key stakeholders to coordinate the party’s bid for victory in the poll.
Serving as Co-Chairmen are Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin is the Secretary of the council.
The APC also announced the establishment of specialized sub-committees to oversee critical aspects of the campaign, including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilization, grassroots engagement, logistics, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilization, women mobilization, persons with disabilities mobilization, and secretariat functions.
The party said the inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, beginning at 12:00 noon.
The APC expressed confidence that the composition of the council, which cuts across its national leadership and elected officials, will provide the coordination and momentum required for a successful campaign ahead of the Osun governorship election.
