As reaction continues to trail the outcome of last weekend Kaduna State local government elections, the state publicity secretary of the party, Hon. Maria Dogo has said that she was surprised the All Progressives Congress (APC) will claim victory for an election that never took place.
Dogo was reacting on a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Salisu Wusono, congratulating the 23 and 255 chairmen and councillor-elect in our LGAs and wards across Kaduna State.
The statement reads in parts, “I am compelled to respond to the shameless press statement issued on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, by the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Salisu Wusono, congratulating the 23 and 255 impostors as chairmen or councillor-elect in our LGAs and wards across Kaduna State.
“It is appalling that the APC would claim victory in an election that never took place. But it is not also surprising, given the undemocratic manner through which all the APC candidates for the council elections emerged. However, the people of Kaduna State are not fools and can not be fooled or taken for granted. They will never accept these impostors as their leaders because even if they should succeed in assuming office, they will only serve the interests of Uba Sani and his cronies, having being criminally appointed to serve as pawns and conduit for cyphoning LG funds”
The PDP also berates and describes Salisu’s call for unity as ridiculous. “We restate emphatically that there was no election in Kaduna State. If there were, and our party lost, we would accept the verdict of the people without hesitation and support those who have emerged to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“Thus, we will continue to work with progressive elements in the APC and the good people of Kaduna to demand justice. We insist that the illegal declaration of APC candidates by KADSIECOM chairman be overturned, and those responsible be prosecuted. We will also fight for a new election that truly represents the will of the people while waiting to end the APC’s continuous assault on democracy and the people of our state, once and for all in 2027.
“To the people of Kaduna State, therefore, let me reiterate the cheering words of our patriotic chairman that you do not lose hope. Democracy will prevail in Kaduna State, and you will have the final say. It is, but a matter of time,” the statement said.
