Senator Karimi Sunday, the senator representing Kogi West in the 10th Senate has a long history of generosity in heart and in acts. His pedigree in innovative representation and sustainable development initiatives is legendary.

He has just initiated, implemented and completed an empowerment series in Kogi West Senatorial District with the gift of #100 million to 50 women cooperative groups in the Senatorial District.

Senator Karimi, who is the Chairman, Senate Services Committee said the gesture is to promote economic growth, self-reliance and jumpstart entrepreneurship among the womenfolk.

He advised the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the funds to improve their businesses and upgrade their general standards of living.

The wife of the Senator, Mrs Stella-Maris Karimi admonished women to multiply the funds given to them and avoid using it on frivolities assuring that her husband was committed to providing funds and training to many more cooperative groups and improving the lives of other constituents.

In her presentation, the Program Coordinator, Hon. Mrs. Bolanle Amupitan, said out of the 50 cooperatives selected, 43 have already been credited with their funds, while the remaining seven will receive their grants after submitting their account details.

She disclosed that each of the 50 cooperative societies has benefitted N2 million.

Mrs. Amupitan also harped on the intended purpose of the programme and explaining that the initiative was part of the fulfilment of Senator Karimi’s campaign promises to empower his constituents, especially women and youths through good governance and cooperative societies.

The beneficiaries, who were full of appreciation for the senator said that the empowerment was the first of its kind in the Kogi West Senatorial District since the return of democracy in 1999.

The women praised Senator Karimi for his commitment to their welfare and the love showered on them just as they commended Mrs Karimi for her unflinching support to her husband and the empowerment project acknowledging her motherly care towards the less privileged.

They prayed for Mrs. Karimi, asking that God continue to preserve her and her family from harm. They expressed their belief that the initiative will have a lasting impact, promoting gender equality, economic empowerment, and sustainable growth throughout the constituency.

It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, a training programme was organised for the women in each of the three federal constituencies in the Senatorial Districts.
