Senator Abba Moro submits petition to the senate, on behalf of constituents, over non-provision of complete starter-packs
The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro PhD on Wednesday submitted a petition to the senate on behalf of her constituents, Mary Adiza Eche and Theresa Ugama Iji over non-provision of complete starter-packs to beneficiaries of the N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme in Benue State.
In the petition, the petitioners said as trainees in the Catering Services category, they successfully completed their training and received their uniform and registration clearance but that during the collection of starter-packs at Aper Aku Stadium on November 7, 2024, they were only provided with a knife and a set of spoons, while the essential items such as gas cylinder, oven gas cooker, sets of pots, blender, rolling board, pancake pan and mixer were withheld by the organizers of the programme.
They said the incomplete starter-packs had hindered their ability to establish and operate a viable business, which contradicts the programme’s objectives.
The petitioners pleaded the senate to investigate and address the non-provision of the complete starter-packs and ensure that the relevant authorities provide the withheld items to the affected beneficiaries of the training programme.
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, referred the petition to the Senate Committee on Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, to report back in 14 days.
