The Senate has endorsed the nomination of Senator Abba Moro representing Benue South Senatorial District as the Minority Leader and Senator Osita NGWU representing Enugu West Senatorial district as Minority whip to serve temporary in their various positions at the Senate.
While announcing their endorsements, the Senate President, presented a document signed by the 2/3 of the Minority Caucus. This announcement, although didn’t go well with the Labour Party Senators as Senator EZEA Okechukwu representing Enugu north senatorial district raised a point of order stating that the PDP cannot take all the minority positions while the Labour party gets nothing. This caused an uproar and other senators from the Labour party endorsed the point of order and went to approach the Senate president.
Note that their endorsements came as the court of Appeal nullified the elections of Senator Darlington Nwokocha who was the minority Whip at the Senate representing Abia central senatorial District under the umbrella of Labour party and Senator Simon mwadkwon who was the Minority Leader representing Plateau south Senatorial District, making the positions of the Minority Leader and Whip vacant.
The Senate President resolved the issue stating that the document before him has the signature of the 2/3 of the minority caucus endorsing Senator Abba Moro and Senator OSITA NGWU. “Until a counter document is presented by the aggrieved Labour Party, the endorsement stands” Akpabio said.
