The Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi has charged the Senior National Team, (Super Eagles) to go all out for a maximum three points against the Zimbabweans, while applauding the team’s dominant display in the victory against Rwanda in Friday’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Senator Ningi said he believes the Eagles can replicate and do better than the 2-0 win in Kigali over the weekend.

A comfortable win against Zimbabwe on Tuesday in Uyo and couple with the result in the game between South Africa and Benin Republic will see Nigeria in a position to top the group in September when the next round of qualifiers shall kick off.

It will be recalled that the former African player of the year, Victor Osimhen got a brace that gave Eric Chelle’s first win in charge of the Super Eagles and rejuvenated their hope for the 2026 world cup ticket to the United States, Mexico and Canada.

“I want to remind the players that a win against Zimbabwe tomorrow (Tuesday) is a step to picking the ticket to 2026 world cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, so I urged them to go for the three points and nothing short of that.

“I want to assure you that the entire Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is behind you as well as over 200 million sports loving Nigerians. So you can see that you have our support, make us proud again.

“I want to congratulate you on your sweat victory and outstanding performance against Rwandan nationalteam in far away Kigali, in fact it was a sweet victory and we want you to do even better in Uyo against Zimbabwe.” Senator Ningi said.

He noted that the triumph in Kigali was a testament to the Super Eagles’ hard work, dedication, and perseverance. And it has again showcased the rich football talents and resilience that define Nigerian sports.

“This victory has revived our chances of qualifying for the World Cup and I am optimistic we will further boost our chances with a victory against Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, by the special grace of Allah.
