The Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their historic 10th triumph at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), held in Moroco.
Senator Ningi lauded the Falcons for their resilience, discipline, and above all for demostrating once again the ‘spirit of Naija’ for a superlative performance against the lioness of Morocco in the finals of the women Africa Nation Cup, describing them as “true ambassadors of Nigerian excellence on the global stage.”
In a statement by the media team of the chairman, senate committee on sports which was made available to newsmen on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Senator Ningi said, “The Super Falcons have once again shown what it means to represent Nigeria with pride and purpose. Their determination, unity, and consistency reflect the values we hold dear as a nation,”
He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast support for sports development in Nigeria, the leadership of the national sports commission (NSC) led by Mallam Shehu Dikko as Chairman and Hon. Bukola Olapade as Director General as well as the management of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their strategic guidance and commitment to excellence in women’s football.
He also commended the National Assembly for a good appropriation for the success of the team.
The Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District at the 10th Senate also commended the technical crew of the super falcons for their efforts in achieving the set target of mission x
He also noted that the team’s success not only brings immense pride to Nigeria but also serves as an inspiration to young girls across Africa, proving that excellence knows no gender.
The Super Falcons hard-fought 3–2 victory over their hosts at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Moroccoo further cements their status as Africa’s most decorated and successful women’s football team.
According to Senator Ningi, “We would continue to work on legislations that will make the growth and development of sports, particulaly football inevitable in Nigeria.”
