The All Progressives Congress (APC) new entrant, Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has revealed the major reason he defeated to the Party.
Recall that Senator Imasuen who was elected to the 10th Senate on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), recently dumped the Party for the ruling APC.
The Senate, on Wednesday formally announced his defection during the plenary after a letter conveying his resignation from the LP was read on the floor of the Red chamber.
Reading the letter aloud, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio assured him that his efforts would not be in vain under the Party’s banner.
In an exclusive interview with newsmen after the plenary in his office, Senator Imasuen said Governor Monday Okpebholo’s good works in Edo State is the major reason he joined the APC.
According to him, working and collaborating with Governor Okpebholo will bring betterment to the people which is the overriding interest of every Edo indigene.
When pressed on whether the Governor’s impacts in the State was one of his reasons for joining APC, the lawmaker stated: “That’s a major reason, to be honest with you. I’m sure you also encountered him while he was a Senator here.
“He is my friend, we were elected and sworn-in the same day. We also collaborated and work together while he was here as a Senator.
“And having gone back to Edo State as the Executive Governor, and having seen the kind of work that he has been able to do in this short period of time. Yes it’s an incentive to go and work and collaborate with him for the betterment of Edo people which is the overriding interest of us all”.
He said his agenda is to represent his people better, saying it has becomes lot more easier to achieve because decision making is smoother now after joining APC.
