The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive Nigeria as party leaders and stakeholders gathered in Abuja for its 8th National Convention.
A party chieftain and the member representing Ifo/Ewokoro federal constituency, Hon Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, said the high level of organisation and orderliness at the convention venue reflects the party’s readiness to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
Isiaka, who hails from Ogun State, described the atmosphere as calm and well-coordinated, noting that the smooth arrangements—from seating to logistics—demonstrate the party’s capacity for effective planning.
Drawing on a Yoruba adage, he said, “By Saturday, you will know how Sunday will be,” adding that the conduct of delegates and the general ambience suggest a successful outcome for the convention.
He stressed that the theme of the convention, Delivering More for Nigerians, highlights the party’s commitment to prioritising national interest above personal considerations.
According to him, the APC remains focused on promoting unity, inclusiveness, and good governance, while strengthening its internal democratic processes.
Isiaka also called on opposition parties to play constructive roles in Nigeria’s democracy, urging them to embrace peace and avoid actions that could undermine national stability.
“There must be opposition in a democracy, but it should be constructive, not destructive. They should help keep the ruling party on its toes in the interest of national development,” he said.
The convention attracted key figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors, lawmakers, and delegates from across the country.
The gathering is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure and strategic direction ahead of future political contests, as the APC seeks to consolidate its position and advance policies aimed at national cohesion and sustainable development.
